Where and when

PURE Casino Calgary is at 1420 Meridian Rd NE, Calgary, AB T2A 2N9. It is one of four Alberta casinos run by PURE Canadian Gaming. The venue's contact page lists the phone number as (403) 248-9467.

There is no morning opening time here. The contact page says the slots and the poker room are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Some older listings still show a 9:30 AM opening, but these appear to be out of date.

Live table games keep set hours:

AreaDaysHours
SlotsDaily24 hours
Poker roomDaily24 hours
Table gamesMonday to Friday12 PM to 3 AM
Table gamesSaturday and Sunday10 AM to 3 AM

On a weekday morning, the slots, the poker room and the restaurant are open, and the live tables start at noon. On weekends the tables open two hours earlier. The venue does not publish holiday hours, so phone ahead around statutory holidays. More on early visits is in Morning hours.

Getting in

Gambling in Alberta is for adults 18 and older, and people under 18 are not permitted inside a casino facility. Under AGLC's casino rules, staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25. It is simplest to carry a driver's licence, passport or government ID card on every visit.

The venue does not publish a dress code. Very large cash transactions also require ID under provincial rules. That rarely affects a short daytime visit, but it is worth knowing.

On the floor

The official site lists 852 slot machines, along with video lottery terminals, and 30 live table games. Electronic table games have their own section on the site. The venue publishes its current game mix there, and that list is the one to rely on.

The poker room has 10 tables and is open 24 hours. The site describes it as open to any limit or buy-in and offers a poker room menu, so players can eat at the table.

The casino offers two loyalty programs, both described on its player programs page:

  • PURE Rewards is the casino's own program. Among other benefits, members get a food and drink discount that does not apply to alcohol.
  • Winner's Edge is AGLC's province-wide program. Joining is free, and you can sign up online, at a kiosk or at Guest Services. You collect the card at Guest Services with government ID, then insert it in slots or electronic table games to earn points. Details are on winnersedge.ca.

Food and extras

The dining page lists:

  • Meridian Central Restaurant: a restaurant and sports bar, open Monday to Sunday 9:30 AM to 1:00 AM, with a late-night menu and chef's specials.
  • Meridian Bar: Sunday to Thursday 9 AM to 5 AM, and open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.
  • Poker room menu: a regular menu and a late-night menu, served in the poker room.

For a weekday lunch visit, the restaurant is already open by mid-morning, and the tables start at noon. Seasonal dining listings change through the year, so check the dining page before you go.

The entertainment venue is called Meridian Central Station. The official site links to it from its Entertainment section, and that is where the venue publishes its show schedule.

Getting there

The casino is in northeast Calgary, off Meridian Road NE. The venue's own site does not give parking details such as cost or accessible stalls. Phone the casino if those matter for your visit.

Neither the venue nor Calgary Transit publishes transit directions to the casino. To plan a trip without a car, use Calgary Transit's station and route maps with the street address. The guide's Without a car page has general notes.

The venue does not publish an accessibility statement. If step-free access or seating is a concern, phone ahead.

Before you go

  • Bring government-issued photo ID.
  • Check the table-game hours if you want a live table. Weekday tables open at noon.
  • Phone ahead about holiday hours, parking and accessibility.
  • Decide on a time and money limit before you arrive, and keep to it.

Every Alberta casino has a GameSense Info Centre, where you can ask about how games work and about the support available. Free, confidential help is available by calling or texting 211, or at ab.211.ca. The Addiction Helpline (Recovery Alberta) is open 24/7 and toll-free at 1-866-332-2322. Self-exclusion is available through selfexclusion.ca. See Play safe for more, or return to the field notes.
